Prohibited Parties Database Search (Note:  this search is now included at no additional charge with NationScan Basic™ and NationScan Plus™ or you may order it separately. 
In response to many customer requests for a report provided by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), we have added the Prohibited Parties Database search to our offering. This new search not only includes the requested OFAC data, but also three additional government databases, all of which provide the following data:

• Debarred Parties

• Denied Persons List

• Entity List

• Specially Designated Nationals, Terrorists, Narcotics Traffickers, Blocked Persons and Vessels (OFAC)

The search is provided by the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security.

The Prohibited Parties Search will include the following information if a match is found within one of the four databases:

• Parties denied export privileges under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as administered by the Office of Defense Trade Control (DTC) 

• Parties denied export privileges as administered by the Bureau of Industry and Security

• Entities subject to license requirements because of their proliferation of weapons of mass destruction

• Parties subject to various economic sanctioned programs administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, such as specially designated nationals, terrorists, narcotics traffickers and blocked persons and vessels

Deluxe Name Search - You must supply the name and address. Using this information as reference fields, the search will identify the most current address and phone number for the subject plus the names, addresses and phone numbers of 5 nearby neighbors. Turnaround time is 4 hours.

Deluxe Address Search - You must supply the name and address. Using this information as reference fields, the search will identify the name and phone number of the current occupant plus the names, addresses and phone numbers of 5 nearby neighbors. Turnaround time is 4 hours.

Standard Name Search - You must supply the name and address. Using this information as reference fields, the search will identify the subject's most current address and the phone number at the address. Express (5 minutes) report has a small up-charge. Turnaround time is 4 hours.

Standard Number Search - Delivers the name of the person listed for a phone number and the listed address. Four hour turnaround time or 5 minutes express.

Social Security Number Search (SSN) - This report comes from credit bureau "header" information. This search validates that the SSN has been issued, when and where issued and gives past addresses, age or year of birth, prior employers. Available in standard (4 hours) or express (5 minutes).

Education Verification - Direct verification with the school regarding claimed education degrees and/or dates of attendance is returned in 1- 3 days.

Prior Employer Verification - Direct verification of claimed previous employment includes verification of dates employed, position held, performance, reason for departure, rehire status and any general comment.  Turnaround time is 1 - 3 days.

FMCSA Prior Employer Verification Questions - (formerly FHWA Prior Employer) Non CDL Licensed Drivers require the question set only. 

FMCSA Prior Employer Verification of CDL Licensed Drivers  Clients who require the DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing results should be DOT regulated and have drivers who have a CDL license, (those are the only type of drivers who fall under the mandatory DOT Drug and Alcohol Screening laws). 

FAA License Verification - Direct verification of Federal Aviation Administration license for pilots, mechanics and instructors. Medical classification is provided if applicable. Turnaround time is 1 day.

FCC License Verification - Direct Verification of Federal Communications Commission license. Turnaround time is 1 day.

Professional License Verification - Direct verification via the state licensing board of specified licenses, certifications or possible reprimands. (Examples of license searches available but not limited to are Teacher, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Physician, and Pharmacist.  There are many others.)

Personal Reference - Direct verification of claimed personal reference. Verification of years known, overall character, and any general comments. Turnaround time is 1 - 3 days.

Professional / Technical Reference - Direct verification of claimed previous experience with a focus toward specific skills. Turnaround time is 1 - 3 days.
Honors and Awards - Direct verification of a claimed honor or award with the awarding organization. Turnaround time varies by organization, but generally runs 1 - 3 days.

Financial Background Checks

Credit Report - This report gives insight into the financial responsibility, past employers, past addresses, age, etc. A release is required (keep on file). Available in standard (4 hours) or express (5 minutes).

WorkPort
Available in seconds, the Workport™ report gives employers background information about applicants over the Internet. This includes work history, records and public records data. FactsFinder.com has found this report to be more informative in some industries such as maritime, trucking and other transportation segments that in others.  Our recommendation is to try a few and see the results before deciding to use it exclusively for the information listed. 
Turnaround time: Immediate

Employment and Earnings (SSA) - Provided by the Social Security Administration, earnings reported are up to the maximum amount each employer is required to report. There are two types of reports. A detailed report will show the amount earned, the name, address and dates of employment for each employer. A summary report will show only the total dollars reported for each year combined from all employers. Turnaround time is 8 to 12 weeks. Searches are available in 1 year, 5 year and 10 year history reports. Note to hiring authority:  The following table shows maximum reported earnings only.  In other words, the dollar amounts shown below are the maximum amounts that were eligible for Social Security taxation for a given year.   An individual may have earned more as a self-employed person (contractor, artist, ROI) that were not reported as eligible FICA earnings.  If the accuracy of an applicant's earnings is questioned, it is only fair that other sources be contacted.

Medicaid Sanctions - This search identifies individuals or employers who have had sanctions brought against them for a crime committed in association with health care related state or federal funded agencies. Individuals with sanctions against them are excluded from Medicare (Federal), Medicaid (State), childcare, social services and all federal health care programs.

Workers Compensation - A History of Workers Compensation Claims. Data comes from the state repositories with the exception of Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, which come from a private repository. Each state limits the data they report. One day turnaround in most states, some states provide 5 minute express service.

 Business Credit Search - Determines the current credit status of a business. The search will provide trade payment information, banking information, officer's names, length of time in business, corporate structure, approximate revenue and public record information (liens, bankruptcies, judgments and suits). Intelliscore - This is an easy to read abbreviated Business credit report. Turnaround time is 4 hours.

Court Background Checks

Civil Searches - These relate to non-criminal lawsuits by or against a person or a company. County Civil courts are either Upper or Lower courts, based on the doll amount of the action. The dollar amounts will vary by state and/or county. Federal Civil actions relate to Federal statutes and would include EEOC, EPA, Treasury or SEC fraud, Civil Rights, etc. Turnaround time is 1-3 days.

Florida Convicted Felons - This report includes only Felons released from the Florida prison system and goes back 7 years from the date of last activity. If the felon was released within 7 years, the search will show some information. This will not include felony misdemeanor convictions, which did not result in incarceration in the Florida State prison system. For this information, please order a statewide search.

Abuse Registry - Child; Abuse Registry - Elderly ; Search of state abuse repository for complaints filed against a particular individual. Turnaround time averages 2 weeks. 

Incident Search - Search of the Merchants' Association database. Provides information on persons who have admitted to a criminal activity (usually theft), but were not charged criminally. All "hits" are reconfirmed before they are reported to you, thus remaining FCRA compliant. Customers are required to sign a separate agreement for this service. There is no charge to register. You will be required to submit your "incidents" to the database. Turnaround time is 1 day; 3 days on hits.

Criminal Background Checks

County Criminal Search - This reports felony and /or misdemeanor records in the county that you have selected. When the records are not maintained in a normal "county" repository, but rather in a city or area repository, the software will so indicate. Multiple counties may be selected per applicant and the counties may be selected by name, city name or ZIP code. Turnaround time is 1 - 3 days.

Statewide Criminal Search - This accesses the statewide criminal repository. The type of data and number of years of information will vary by state. We report all information provided to us by the state. The states that permit their records to be searched will be displayed when this choice is selected on the HireCheck™ menu of searches. You will be prompted if any special release is required.

Federal Criminal Search - This selection reports the records of crimes committed against Federal criminal laws. This information will not be included in any state or county record. Turnaround time is 1-3 days.

Canada Province searches are available for Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, Yukon and Northwest Territories.

Metro Criminal Search - This report consists of a combination of "County" searches for a metropolitan area and include from 2 - 15 counties per area. The counties will be displayed when the metro area is being selected. Metro Criminal Searches are more efficient and less costly than if a user were to research the jurisdictions to be covered, then order individual searches for each jurisdiction. Turnaround time is 1 - 3 days.

Driving Record (MVR)

Direct report from the specified state records. The data reported varies slightly by state and the number of years reported will also vary. Additionally, some states separate Commercial MVR data ( offenses while on the job ) from Personal MVR data. Turnaround time is usually 1 day. Express MVRs are available from many states, and are returned in about 5 minutes for a small additional charge.

A motor vehicle report is a crucial search on any applicant that you are considering for a driving position.  This is an obvious practice.  But what about positions that include only occasional driving during company time?

International Searches

A variety of searches are available in most foreign countries. Driver's license, education and prior employment searches and costs vary depending upon the country and what we have to do to get the search done. The way it normally works is that the client is automatically charged whatever they pay for a normal education or employment search and then, about a month or so later, we bill them for the actual cost of the phone calls, any translating fees and any costs incurred by having someone call in the middle of the night due to time zone differences.

International Criminal Searches require checks in all available courts including federal, state and local. The average turnaround time is 2 weeks but may take longer in some cases. In some cases, the information obtained may be a reflection of the political climate of that country at the time the search is performed.
