Result Turnaround Time

Samples that test negative for all drugs will typically be reported within 24 hours from the time of receipt into the laboratory.  In cases where the sample tests positive for one or more drugs, the results can be expected within 48- 72 hours from receipt at the Laboratory.  This additional time represents the time necessary to conduct quantitative confirmation on the GC/MS.  The LabCorp receiving laboratories operate Tuesday through Saturday.

6-Acetylmorphine (6 - AM) will be performed on samples that confirm positive for morphine at levels of 2000 ng/ml or more. When d&l methamphetamine isomers and/or 6-AM are analyzed, results may be expected within an additional 24 hours after the initial GC/MS positive of methamphetamine and morphine.  This is due to the additional time required to schedule, aliquot, extract, analyze, and review the results.
